Old Age Playstationers

Welcome to the retirement village that is the home of the Old Age Playstationers Community! Please drive with consideration.

We are a fun loving, online games playing, energetic bunch of folks. OAP was originally created in order to get away from the insanity of a large part of the Online Beta Testing community, but now encompasses the entire online Sony Playstation community.

We have found a safe haven to play, a place where we wouldn't get in 'trouble' when real life takes a turn and interrupts the peace of Online Playstationing.

Membership Options for OAP! Everyone is welcome to this, the OAP home.

The "Bowling Club" is the heart of OAP. To become a fully fledged Bowling Club member (Full OAP) you must post an introduction in the intros .

So if you are feeling old enough please take a wander over to our 'Introductions' forum tell us a bit about yourself (There are some guidelines to what should be in your intro in the forum). Once your introduction is posted the OAPs will interview you to verify your credentials. Expect a reply and decision when we have finished our afternoon nap.

Bowling Club Membership entitles you:

  • to use the [OAP] tag in your battles, races, etc
  • to drool whilst playing your Playstation
  • to have your seat in the OAP community home (ie forums)
  • to play with an OAP team in a plethora of battle arenas
  • to drive around like a blind maniac leaving your indicators on with our petrol-headed warriors on Burnout or Grid
  • to join in on our regular closed games, far from the madding crowd and safe from the voices of squeaky kids
  • to participate in our training and masterclasses
  • to participate in all our special events
  • You may also need to have other OAPs vouch for your entry to our fabled home, so get yourself known here, and in games, nurse will soon welcome you with open arms.

    Don't want to leave your current clan?
    Why not post an intro and join as an OAP Chum. This entitles you to play in our passworded chums rooms and access certain parts of the forums. Consider it to be 'OAP lite'

    We look forward to seeing you participate in our community!

    News: Bigger sigs!
    Thursday, March 26 @ 07:52:23 GMT by Martok (82 reads)
    OAP Website

    Following the release of the official Playstation sigs (Portable IDs), the Elders have reviewed the sig guidance. Sigs can now be a max of 550x125px, 100KB filesize and you can have 1 line of text below this (to be no longer than 550px). "OAP" and/or the OAP 'logo' are encouraged to be used but are no longer a requirement.

    Full details of the guidelines can be found in OAP FAQ's here.

    So go ahead and get yourself a new sig if you wish and let's all see how creative you can be!

    It's that time of year again (well OK, it's a bit late!) when we recognise those OAPs amongst us for their special contribution to this community (that's not including the soiled pants they leave strewn across the day room).

    So visit the 2007 Forum Awards forum, check out how we are doing the awards this year - nominations this week and voting next week - then tell us who you think is worthy of an award.

    News: Merry Christmas OAP!
    Wednesday, December 24 @ 14:49:09 GMT by jonah (169 reads)
    Clan StuffTwas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
    Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
    The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
    In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
    The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
    While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
    And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
    Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
    When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
    I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
    Away to the window I flew like a flash,
    Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
    The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
    Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
    When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
    But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
    With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
    I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
    More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
    And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
    "Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
    On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!
    To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
    Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
    As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
    When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
    So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
    With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.
    And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
    The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
    As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
    Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
    He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
    And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
    A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
    And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
    His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
    His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
    His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
    And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
    The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
    And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
    He had a broad face and a little round belly,
    That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.
    He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
    And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
    A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
    Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
    He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
    And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
    And laying his finger aside of his nose,
    And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
    He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
    And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
    But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

    "Happy Christmas to all OAP, and to all a good-night."
