Mrs Boba did the C2C on a road bike (a tourer) in 3 days.

Oi get yer own thread!

Cheers c00k5ter, they're only lethal if
a. You don't know what your doing
b. If you hit something harder than your own body
apart from that they're as safe as a lit stick of dynamite Very Happy

Nowt wrong with an A class now they don't roll over, but a toy is always good, mine is a both a toy and a means of getting to the hell hole called work so I'm a lucky chappie Cool

C2C info - I'm deffo up for doing this again this year!

I've not seen this before but after a quick lookesee I would be tempted into this. Like Jonah it's been a while since my L2B days but many years ago I would be found on the tracks around Epping Forest at the weekend. Unfortunately Netty isn't a fan of offroad stuff, and now that Georgia joins us (last summer on a big old rear cycle seat and from this summer on her own bike attached by a tow bar to one of us) I'm not really allowed to go mental (G used to shout at me for going to fast on the mud paths). Sad

Which reminds me of the time I ended up in Southend A&E after landing on my head after getting bored on a sponsored cycle ride. But that story can wait for later.

The 'off-road' on the C2C isn't what I'd call off-road.
It's mostly all cycle paths/paths/old railway line.
There are different routes that depend on what you are after. The roadies have a more tarmac route, us MTB/tourers take the scenic route.

I did it on my ultra-heavy Muddy Fox with Specalized Armadillo intermediate/road tyres, with 2 panniers. My other mates just used 3ltr camelbacks. With hindsight, I'd have taken a much lighter frame'd bike, and less on the rear rack.

Hard-tails are recommended. Less to go wrong.

As much as thread hijacking and going off on tangents is an 'OAP thing', shall we go create our own thread to discuss 'The OAP Job' - who wants to be Camp Freddie?

my bike.

This is the same as Mrs M's car except hers is the newer model with better spoiler and swisher wheels.

My old car, "The Pink Penetrator" as it was called by my mates, had to be left behind and is now in car heaven. I am now not going to get my own car unless it is an A-Team van. I'd like an Ecto-1 but they are a bit too long. Smile

Class! I remember that sketch well.
Used to be mad on paintball. Was in a 5-man team, played all the time, had all my own kit. Never close to Mullet's level, but who is?
I used to sit there watching them characters going, "you'd never be allowed to lift your mask like that, and where are their faceplates?"

I was the same whenever paintball was on TV, they'd always lift their goggles to talk and stuff. If they did that twice when we were marshalling they'd get put in the firing range and shot at for 10 seconds. Twisted Evil

At one time it was "fashionable" for pro teams to not wear faceplates during tourneys, only goggles with a bandana over your nose/mouth. They then made a ruling that you had to wear a faceplate, so we used to cut them down to just cover the mouth (as in this pic). Then the rules got tougher and we had to wear full face plates etc then the move out of the woods onto "playing fields" and the switch from cammo to bright colours to make it all more "extreme".
