And so it came to pass that I reached my 18th OAP Birthday.
It’s great to see that a few of the names in this thread are still around too. Sad that at least one has passed away. Always wonder what happened to those that just faded away, e.g. Old Red. Presumably lost their gaming mojo.
It was an incredible gaming time, back in 2003 and in the years that followed. Some brilliant memories of games played (loads of Socom, obviously!), competitive matches on the Gamebattles ladder, being Purplerinse captain for many years after Lorry left. But especially of establishing many friendships in a virtual world, several of whom I met briefly in Cardiff when I drove down for the meal with a young Diddy (Ben).
A great deal has changed for us all in those 18 years. My children grew up, two got married & those 2 each produced 2 fantastic grandsons, whom I’m lucky to see very regularly. I went through two redundancies followed by periods of unemployment, before going self employed in 2007.
A great shame that the writing is on the wall for this old place, but at least I have access to the Facebook page!
I shall make a point of getting onto Socom Confrontation tonight, to celebrate another anniversary. W00t!
