That much for a Speccy? Has it got updated graphics or something? My old plastic key 48k is still in my parents attic somewhere, might have to 'Atic Atak' next time i'm round there.

that's the dodgy aussie dollars cost plus the shipping and possibly import taxes and quarantine to pass through (the last one seems to a bit more of a problem than normal) currently £300 will get standard one upgraded to 2mb - who knows they could offer a bare board again and then you can source an old case to put it in - it'll fit in an rubber keyed speccy case but better in a + or 128 case
its a completely new FPGA machine, new graphics capabilities, more colours, updated basic language, more ram (upto 2meg), upto 4* the original 3.5mhz clock speed. pretty much completely backwards compatible currently it does zx80, zx81 all the speccys Timex and a bunch russian clones, some people are making cores for other machines, others writing and selling new games
some interface expansions currently don't work but the can change as firmware and cores get updated

I think i'll just try and dig the old girl out and see if it works.

In an entirely random observation, both you and Mullet have what looks like a 'past and present' pic of Bob Ross as your profile pictures.

I guess the first paved the way for people to see it actually would happen so brought in the more "careful" backers?

It does look like an impressive machine, i'd love one, but not at that price. :(

i didn't go for a 2nd one either - its more the software they're getting that interests me (almost certain to get released), as a bunch of the stretch goals from the first kickstarter have not seen the light of day as yet & most of the goals for for this are only bringing it up to the current spec of my upgraded machine
