I've not used my bike over the last couple of months but I'm going to target March 1st as a date to get back cycling to work. :Y:

Had my first puncture this week and had to walk about half a mile home.

Starting a new job on Monday but they don't have showers there, so I'm going to buy a bike carrier for the car, and Doris will drop me and the beast off at work in the mornings and I'll ride home.

Keep turning those pedals.

You've been lucky then! I never cycle anywhere without a puncture repair kit, levers, spanner and a pump.

Oh I have all the spares, but I wasn't far from home, was sweating like a blind lesbian in a fish market and didn't fancy attempting my first inner tube change for years by the side of a busy road :)

same here never leave home without a spare tube & repair kit, you should try fixing a puncture on a mtb in the cold covered in mud loads of fun! or if you are like me just ride home on the rim(not recommended on a road bike.bmx & mtb only)
have cycled all my life bmx ,road & mtb love them all,bit old for the bmx now my knee & back are not up to it anymore

My daughter loved cycling at that age but once she reached a teenager, lost all interest.

I'm trying to do slightly shorter distances more often now, as my duff knee doesn't like anything over about 30-35KM. I'm doing my second charidee ride this weekend too, a nice 23KM jaunt. There are a few rides like that over the course of the year, and I aim to do as many of them as I can :)

Contrary to my previous post, I did my first 100KM ride today. I've joined up with a local group and off we went this morning. I'm totally shagged now but it was enjoyable. The pace wasn't fast and I found that helped the aforementioned duff knee last much longer. I certainly won't be doing that every week though!

So did all you UKers enjoy a lovely two-wheeled summer?

I've progressed to riding with a 'proper' bunch, 55km then a stop for a cuppa every Saturday morning from 7am. I'm a bit slow on my hybrid against all the road bikes but I do my time at the front and don't show myself up.

I'm doing the same charidee ride that I did last year this December, 70km this time.

Got my first KOM on Strava last weekend too, fastest out of 41 :)

Was out on Saturday morning with 2 other guys. The guy behind me called that a bunch was passing us. As they passed me, my mate said we should jump on the back of the bunch back to town. I dropped the hammer and was motoring along at 54kph and the bunch just pulled away from me. Turns out that the bunch was being led by none other than Richie Porte :)

My Step-Mother-in-Law is a big fan of his, she's from Tassie too.
