EDIT: Read Wattys post (below) first, otherwise this won't make much sense. How my post appears above his I'm not sure :?

:D Well you already know where I stand.

Dogs are like more obedient young children, and cats are like ungrateful teenagers. I know which I prefer

Cats vs Dogs

Postby Watty » Sat 30 Nov 2013, 9:10 pm

Following a conversation in IRC I got to wondering which are most popular, dogs or cats.

Here's my competely unbiased summary of the major characteristics of each :-

Dogs are Loyal, Loving, Protective, Cuddly and make good Companions

Cats are not loyal (they don't care who feeds them and spend more time in someone else's house than their owners), hating (they hate their owners with a passion and are constantly plotting how to kill them), Cowardly (they pick on wild bird fledgings for instance), Dangerous (try cuddling one and see how many eyes you have left afterwards) and very independent (they don't need you, they're just using you).

I base my vote purely on what I think would win in a pound for pound fight. Cat all the way.

I've never owned either, but my wife had a dog when she lived with her parents, it used to sit in the corner of the lliving room licking where its balls used to be. SLOP SLOP SLOP! It used to take a big shit in the back garden and bark madly at birds or cats in the garden from the living room window late at night with out warning! As annoying as that many bad traits that dopey dog had I loved it like my own.

But I still prefer cats for one very simple reason.

Have you ever had to take a cat out in the pouring rain in winter at midnight to take a shit, then have to scoop it into a little bag?

No? Exactly my point!

Generally a dog person, however, I did have our last cat from birth (mother was our cat as well) and well that was like a dog. He was by my side from the moment I got home to the moment I went out. It had all the characteristics of a dog. Sadly he passed away the other year.

So you can not label all cats as non-loyal etc.

Though I can't vote, I do have an opinion on this: Cats. Of course.

I don't think I ever lived without (a) cat(s) for more than a year in the past 47 years. And I plan to keep it that way :)

Never had either. Parents used to have a cat when they discovered mice under the stairs when I was young and it popped off when I was about 10.

Since moving into the new place in the summer we soon realised that the local cats used our garden for dumping ground, I've spent numerous amounts of £££ on deterrents and have finally stopped them with a couple of water scarecrows.

I now have to try and think of someway to stop them using the front garden.

.....and as for dogs, Emma grew up with a couple of German shepards, Rommel and Stumme (her dad had a thing for Panzers ) I've never seen appeal, the whole taking for walks, picking up their shit (if you're lucky!!) causing havoc. There is the security (and stopping cats shitting in your garden) plus side though. When house hunting we saw some houses that absolutely stunk of dog and the gardens were a complete mess, put us completely off the houses.

I vote for neither.

I realise this post is a bit shit heavy.............tough shit. ;)

You don't think so?

Pound for pound I think a cat would destroy a dog.
