What DO herons do that needs repelling?
There's one moved in nearby, but it's delightfully civilised and polite. Or at least seems to be, should I suspect it of behaving nefariously on the sneak?

Yeah, a heron also ate all but one of my dads goldfish out the pond as well. My dad was not happy

The best part is he got more fish and covered the pond with a 'bird proof ' mesh....that the heron poked a hole through and got them too! Now the pond is a rockery.

My parents in laws cat was good for nicking koi carp, had to repeatedly hide the evidence

Yeah Heron kept nicking my dad's Koi, as did the Fox. In the end one of them punctured the liner somewhere and the pond kept leaking, so he emptied it and filled it in as it had become too much work for an 80odd year old.

Shame though, we dug that 29 feet x 17 feet x 4 feet fecker by hand many years ago.

I'd guess going on these comments it's an overwhelming yes, especially if you have fish.
