Polar Bear would win in a pound for pound fight.
Not an option in this poll, so I ran some tests:

sticks when thrown at curtains/soft furnishings: Cat
least injuries after 'fall' from 5th floor: Cat
Most stuff destroyed when left in car: Cat (dog chewed entire inside of the car off, but kept gear knob as souvenir - cat tried to steal the car and crashed it into a shop)
ability to scare the crap out of humans: tie (cat/dog/human dependent)
handling and performance: Cat (dogs have too much oversteer)
ability for 'bearding': I thought I knew this one, but a quick bit of research leads me back to a tie.
ability for 'breading': Did you mean Cat Breading (or dog breading)? No google, I didn't - but you intrigue me, so I have to check it out: Tie. damn, that isn't helpful.
Thievery: Dog. they like to steal stuff.
best musical: Cats
best videogame: Dog (er...it is dog right?)
best dance with Paula Abdul: Cat
Best movie: Cat (very very close - lots of good dog movies, not as good as Lion King)
most severe human allergies caused: cat
most insouciant while licking self: tie (maybe half a point for cat, I've seen dog with guilty look)

After all that analysis I think, like humans, I like my kind of cat and dog, but the ones I do not like are not for me. Because they are scumbags, idiots, bad, or nasty.

Although all the 'evidence' I gathered means I have to vote cat.

Well having been brought up with my old man and his beloved racing pigeons, i've been trained from a young age with a catapult to hit a cat in the ass from 40yrds, plus they shit everywhere apart from there own garden.

Dogs all the way for me.

Or, in today's Amazon daily deals, how about neither! Or at least neither pooping on your garden.
This product: "Repel cats, dogs, foxes, squirrels, rabbits, herons and more"
Wow, it even repels herons!

What do herons do that they need repelling? We have one on the pond next our house. It's nice to see it.

Would you still like to see the heron if you kept unusual, expensive and exotic fish in said pond? (Otherwise known as bird food).

At the end of last month we had to say goodbye to Esha, who was a great dog that we had for 14 years. She left a big hole in our lives. She will be sadly missed. Many of you will miss her howling on comms.

Last week we bought Sasha who we hope will be as good a companion.

I have owned cats and dogs.. and Dogs FTW
